Reservoir earthquakes are earthquakes caused by human engineering activities and are more prominent in environmental geology. According to Hu Yuliang statistics, there have been more than 80 reservoir earthquakes that have taken place in the world, with magnitude (Ms) between 2.0-6.5. There are 28 earthquakes ≥4.5 in 16 countries (10 in our country). It is noteworthy that many reservoir earthquakes often occur in areas where seismic activity was historically weak, and most of the earthquakes did not pose a hazard to hydraulic structures. For example, three of the reservoir earthquakes greater than 6 did not result in the collapse of the fire dam. China is a country with many earthquakes. There are many historical examples of reservoir earthquakes and it is necessary to study it from a practical and theoretical perspective. Reservoir earthquakes can be regarded as a form of crustal movement produced under the joint action of rock power and groundwater power in a certain geomechanical environment. Therefore, it is a feasible exploration route to strengthen the observation network used in the reservoir area weekly, and to make the prediction of Mizuo reservoir earthquake with the model and mathematical simulation experiment.
