It is said that the prototype of table tennis can be tracedback to the 12th century in England. It was a spin-off of“Royal Tennis,” a game played in a four-walled court andwas a popular parlor game in Victorian homes. In earlierdays, various household articles such as pieces ofcardboard were used for rackets, books as nets, and stringfor balls. It later became a social game in England towardthe end of the 1800’s. Children used dining-room tables andballs of cork to play the game as an after-dinner alternativeto lawn tennis in England.
