The Beijing Workers’ Stadium was built on the site of the East Lake in the eastern suburbs of the Lüzu Pavilion. The foundation was originally a waste kiln factory. Three-quarters of the ground was a kiln pit that had already become a pond and a constant year of water. During the one-year leap-forward period, through the hard work of Beijing construction workers and support from all over the country, a whole set of sports complexes including stadiums, swimming pools, and sports clubs were built in this desolate marshland. This article describes the stadium in which the main building is currently the largest in China with the latest equipment. It specifically demonstrated the party’s and the government’s unlimited care for developing people’s sports and enhancing the people’s physique. The first national sports meeting was held here on September 13 this year to review the achievements of the Chinese people in sports during the ten years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
