2000年7月25日,笔者一至亲从重庆市南川金佛山为我带回此石。此石原系一老农从一山沟处背回准备用作建房基石,巧遇爱其美者幸而保存下来。该石成块状,由数层粘叠而成,每层厚2cm~4cm不等,俗称千层石。笔者初见此石时,石厚约20cm,四边犬牙交错,杂乱无章,重约50余斤;正面除有一穗状物化石外未见他物,亦未发现刀斧凿痕。笔者嫌其厚,剥掉背面几层,仅留两层板石,将四周切割掉以突出重点,正面未作任何修饰。经过处理后该石外轮廓线呈不规则七边形,
