“It is better to light candles than to curse darkness,” an ancient Chinese proverb that probably best describes the determination of humankind to change the environment of poverty. Parattiper was born and long-term resident in the slums, living in the middle of children who were kept out of school due to poverty. The candle lit by this young, soft-spoken Thai woman is a strong determination to educate these children on her own. Parattiper is very poor, there is no teaching certificate, but she has plenty of energy. Her experience made her well aware of why these children could not attend regular schools. Their parents are all without shelter had only illegally built in the public land
