义务教育是国民基础教育。义务教育初中阶段有关能力的培养目标是:“掌握必要的文化科学技术和基本技能,具有一定的自学能力、动手操作能力以及运用所学知识分析和解决简单问题的能力,初步具有实事求是的科学态度,掌握一些简单的科学方法。”新编教材充分体现了义务教育的性质和特点,把教育性、思想性、知识性、趣味性、可读性和实验性融为一体,编排新颖,形式活泼。强调通过科学方法训练,培养学生的科学素质。新编教材以实验、观察为主线,以现代教学理论为指导,变“结论式”为“探索式”,使实验、观察、思维、获得新知识几方面有机结合,有利于培养学生的学习兴趣,拓宽知识,提高能力,发展特长,并具创新精神。
