Experiments show that the use of high Si content of cast iron consumable electrodes and rare earth oxides containing CaF2-based slag, DC reverse polarity electroslag remelting conditions, ductile iron can be obtained. The phenomenon of graphite spheroidization in cast iron is the result of electrochemical modification of molten iron. The Mg and Ce cations in the slag are reduced into the molten iron bath in the cathode region of the slag-gold interface, playing the role of nodulizer. Increasing the Si content in the consumable electrode in the anode region can suppress the formation of Fe cation in the slag and contribute to the electrochemical reduction reaction, which is of great significance for establishing a new metallurgical technology.
