After half a century of arduous investigation and demonstration, based on the analysis and comparison of dozens of planning schemes, China’s world-renowned water diversion project has passed the review and will be gradually implemented. The South-to-North Water Transfer Project is imperative. China is a country with a shortage of water resources per capita, and the per-capita share is only 1/4 of the world average. Due to China’s specific natural conditions, the distribution of water resources in time and space is severely uneven: there is more water in the south and less water in the north; precipitation concentrates in the flood season, and there is little drought in the non-flood season. The big rivers and rivers in our country flow from the west to the east, blocking each other, and have not yet formed water resources for deployment.
