熊月之先生的《异质文化交织下的上海都市生活》是日常生活史与结构史研究路径有机结合的成功范例。该书借助丰富的文字素材与图片资料,论述了由晚清开埠至二战结束这一时期内,异质文化在上海所经历的交流、对话、冲突、碰撞与融合。从史料运用和理论方法上都实现了新的突破,得出了诸多非常有见地的结论,深化了对上海城市史的认识,对研究和总结中国近代城市文化的发展和演变也具有指导意义。并且以史为鉴,表达了对现实的关怀。
