大封门水库集雨面积25.8平方公里,正常水位库容550万立方米。两岸及坝基为较完整的花岗岩盘石,仅右岸252米高程以上岩石较为破碎,V型河谷,高宽比为1:2.9,适合建造拱坝。石拱坝溢流段高45米,非溢流段高48.5米;拱顶断面坝底厚11.6米,坝顶厚2米;河底平均宽15米,坝轴线长140米,弧长150米。计划工作量浆砌石1.55万立方米,混凝土1.05万立方米。该坝于一九七○年春正式施工,至一九七四年冬完成坝高41米。施工过程中每年洪水过坝溢流,一九七三年最大过水深1.1米,通过流量158秒立方米,根据观测未发现异常现象。
