成都高新技术产业开发区始建于1988年。1991年3月,国务院批准成都高新技术产业开发区为国家高新技术产业开发区。 成都高新技术产业区设立在成都市外南神仙树地区,北以南河为界,东以府河为界,南以132厂铁路专用线为界,西以川藏路及一环路一、二段为界,规划总面积21.5平方公里。该地区系成都市的科技、智力密集区。开发区中心距成都市中心4.5公里,距成都双流国际机场6公里。区
