I. Preface The Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest is located in the White Mountain National Forest in central New Hampshire in the northeastern United States. The area is located in a typical temperate humid climate zone, the annual average precipitation is 129.5cm, the annual average precipitation has little change, winter snow and summer rain. The amount of evapotranspiration is greatest from June to September each year (Likens et al., 1977; Bormann et al., 1979).
