For over 100 years, Mn13 has been widely used in the mining machinery industry as an ideal wear-resistant material under strong impact loads and under hard abrasive wear conditions. High-manganese steel castings are heat-treated with water toughening. The aim is to eliminate carbides precipitated along the austenite grain boundaries in the castings to obtain a single austenitic structure giving it high toughness and good wear resistance. Due to the poor thermal conductivity of high manganese steel (its thermal conductivity is only 1/3 ~ 1/4 of carbon steel), the casting must be slowly heated in the water toughness treatment to quenching temperature (1050 ~ 1150 ℃) usually 8 to 10 hours , Holding time is longer (3 to 4 hours)
