我场位于新疆维吾尔自治区准葛尔盆地西北边沿,海拔800米,4—9月平均气温8.5—28.8℃,绝对无霜期117天。我场种植红花多年。红花为一年生,喜温、抗旱力强,耐湿耐碱,苗期能忍受-10℃的低温。种子出油率一般为18—25%,无刺红花出油率为20—25%,生育期120—150天,株高50—80厘米。红花不仅是油料作物,它的花还可作中药。种子外壳坚硬。我场一般采取春播,利用雪墒耕播,耕深22—25厘
