锻后余热淬火是锻件在锻造成形以后立即在高温状态下急速冷却进行的淬火。也就是在稳定的奥氏体范网内形变后产生马氏体相变的高温形变热处理。它是将锻造压力加工与热处理工艺有效地结合起来,可同时发挥形变强化和热处理强化的作用,可以同时提高材料的强度,塑性和韧性获得单一的强化方法所不能达到的综合机械性能。目前国内外得到了广泛的应用。锻热淬火法美苏等国称为“热机械处理”日本称为“加工热处理”。锻热淬火工艺,在某种意义上可以说是锻造,热处理生产工艺上的革命,它不但获得优异的综合机械性能,而且省去一道重新高温加热淬火的工序,从而节省了大量的能量消耗,
