The authors report molecular regulation of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and interleukin-8 (IL-8) production by immature human monocytes following phagocytosis of M. tuberculosis, and the anti-TNF treatment effects on the release of TNF, IL-6 and IL-8 The effects of Mycobacterium tuberculosis virulence on monocyte cytokine mRNA production and secretion were studied.
