My father, Li Zhaolin, and his mother, Kimberly, was a northeast anti-Japanese coalition soldier who fought in the White Mountains in the 1930s. At that time, they had lived and died in battle with their comrades in North Korea and the Soviet Union, side by side against the fascist aggression in Japan and used blood to form a deep comradeship. Between 1941 and 1945, my father and General Chou Baozhong led some of the anti-UN forces to the Soviet Union and became the 88th Brigade of the Soviet Army Khabarovsk. My father was a political commissar. During this period, our family lives in the same unit with one of Comrade Kim Il Sung’s, helping each other and cultivating their offspring.
