In 1875, for the first time, a British captain named Matthew Webb swam across the English Channel, starting from Dover to Cape Corina near Calais in France. At that time, people commented on the occasion: he broke a world record that had not seen the ancients before they disappeared. Many years have passed. Today, there are many who can cross the English Channel. There are many who can travel round the clock without interruption, and travel much faster than Webb. Webb took 21 hours and 45 minutes to finish 35 kilometers of travel. Today, even women and children can break Webb’s record.
