以科技人员为教学对象的短期外语教学究竟如何搞,一直存在着认识上的分歧。有人认为,没有什么科技外语;所谓科技外语,只不过是个专业词汇的问题。而专业词汇在整个科技外语中占的比重并不大,据有人调查,约占四分之一或更少。关于有无科技外语的问题,我们的看法是肯定的。近十年来,科技外语在国外已发展成为外语教学的一个分支,在教学理论和教学方法方面都有专门的论述,在实践方面编有大量的科技外语教科书。同时,我们也看到,许多国家的高中外语教科书也是按文理学科分别编写的。因而,否认科技外语和科技外语的特点是不符合客观实际的。
There are always differences of understanding on how to conduct short-term foreign language teaching with science and technology personnel as the teaching object. Some people think that there is no scientific and technological foreign language; the so-called scientific and technological foreign language is only a matter of professional vocabulary. The proportion of professional vocabularies in science and technology foreign languages is small, accounting for about one quarter or less of the total. Our opinion on the scientific and technological foreign languages is affirmative. In the past ten years, science and technology foreign language has become a branch of foreign language teaching in foreign countries. There are special discussions on teaching theory and teaching methods, and a large number of science and technology foreign language textbooks are compiled in practice. At the same time, we also see that many high school foreign language textbooks in many countries are also written separately according to liberal arts disciplines. Therefore, to deny the characteristics of S & T foreign language and S & T foreign language does not conform to the objective reality.
