【Objective】 To analyze the citation characteristics of revoked dissertations in the Web of Science (WoS) database in the past ten years and to explore the effect of revocation on the academic community. 【Method】 The correlation between revoked dissertation number, citation frequency information and periodical impact factor (IF), withdrawal time lag and paper cited times were analyzed. The contribution rate of IFR to highly cited and withdrawn essays ; To evaluate the effect of withdrawal delay on the quoted times before and after revocation. 【Results】 The number of IF and revoked papers, total citations, cited citations after revocation and articles cited were all correlated (all P <0.05). Undo lags and withdrawals were always cited frequency-related (P = 0.000). With the withdrawal delay extended, the citation frequency before withdrawal was gradually increased. The contribution rate of highly cited and withdrawn dissertations to journal IF is 0.00% ~ 2.00%. 【Conclusion】 The paper published by high-IF journals, which has a long withdrawal delay, has a great negative impact on academic circles. While affirming the self-purification effect of journals, it is suggested that scientific research management departments, periodical editors and scientific researchers reinforce the abolition of dissertations and Concerns about its adverse effects.
