In this study, 74 Chinese EFL learners who are native speakers of Chinese language are selected as research subjects. The purpose of this study is to explore the roles and differences of English phonological awareness and rhythm awareness in different word reading tasks for Chinese-speaking children. The results show that: 1) there is a difference in the role of phonological awareness in recognizing and reading spell words. Among them, phonemic awareness has a significant predictive effect on the reading of authentic words and the reading of fake words, while syllabic awareness only predicts the reading of fake words. Can be seen, compared with the authentic word recognition, spelling the phonological awareness of spelling higher, more dependent. 2) There are differences in the ways of prosodic awareness on the recognition of real words and spelling of fake words. Among them, prosodic awareness has no direct effect on the recognition of authentic words, but indirectly on the recognition of authentic words through the mediation of the phonemic awareness. However, the sense of prosody has a significant effect on spelling recognition. The conclusion shows that with the increase of decoding difficulty, the influence of prosodic awareness on the development of children’s reading ability will be more significant.
