电影《三等公民》向我们展示的是一个许多人不愿回亿的一段沉痛的历史。影片悲壮地描述了主人公周永平及同学李桂山、金东正在东北伪满统治时期的屈辱生活。他们面对残酷的现实,对生活,对人生感到茫然。而种种悲惨的事实,极大地震撼了这些“三等公民”的灵魂,是昏昏沉沉做“日本帝国”的顺民,还是猛然觉醒做一个真正的中国人?其中,李桂芝血淋淋的事实,强烈地震动了李桂山、周永平。李桂山的姐姐李桂芝出场的镜头不多,只是用简单的补衣服、送笔,平实地反映了这位勤劳、善良的姑娘。而正是这样一位善良的姑娘,遭到了不幸——必需“不愿意也得愿意”地做汉奸的小老婆。而李桂芝却以死表现出她不甘屈辱的反抗精神,不可污辱的尊严。
