[Objective] To investigate the relationship between lymph node metastasis (ESCC) and clinicopathological factors and expressions of CD24 and CD133 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). [Methods] The expression of CD24 and CD133 in 40 specimens of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (LNM positive group and 20 negative specimens) were detected by immunohistochemical SP method. The relationship between LNM and related clinicopathological data was analyzed. [Results] The LNM of ESCC was significantly correlated with the depth of invasion, differentiation and TNM staging (all P <0.05). The expressions of CD24 and CD133 were also closely related to LNM metastasis (P <0.05). The expression of CD24 and CD133 in ESCC was positively correlated (r = 0.797, P = 0.000). [Conclusion] The LNM of ESCC is closely related to the infiltration depth, differentiation degree and TNM stage. CD24 and CD133 may be related to LNM in ESCC. The joint detection of both expression of CD24 and CD133 is of significance in predicting LNM and prognosis of ESCC.
