期刊作为文献是图书馆收藏的重要部分,作为文献的情报信息源也同样占有举足轻重的地位。尤其是在信息高速公路没有建成的今天,传播情报信息最快、最全、容量最大的载体之一,也是期刊。就世界上文献总量而言,约有75％发表在期刊上,就科技信息含量而言,期刊容纳了科技情报总量的65％以上。涉及到所有学科,充分反映了当代学术成就,最新科研成果,而且报道迅速,内容新颖,成为促进科学技术发展的必不可少的信息源。因此成为各种上文献收藏的主体之一。在重视期刊收藏的同时,更要充分的利用期刊,发挥它的作用。
Journal as a document is an important part of the library collection, as the source of intelligence information in the literature also plays a decisive role.
