The 8th Plenary Session of the Eighth Sichuan Provincial CPC Committee was held in Chengdu from December 25 to 27, 2006. The plenary session is presided over by the Provincial Standing Committee. Du Qinglin, secretary of the provincial party committee, made an important speech. Zhang Zhongwei, deputy secretary of the provincial party committee and governor, deployed the 2007 economic work. The meeting thoroughly studied the spirit of the 6th Plenary Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee and the Central Economic Work Conference and listened to the work report of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; reviewed and approved the "Report of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee
