杂交水稻是利用杂种第一代的优势。杂种的第二代就会出现严重分离,植株高矮不一,成熟有早有晚。因此,种杂交水稻,就要有杂种第一代的种子。但是,水稻是自花授粉作物,而且颖花很小,如果象杂交玉米那样,依靠人工去雄杂交的方法生产大量杂交种子,那是难以办到的事。为了解决杂交水稻的制种问题,广大贫下中农和科技人员试验研究了各种利用途径,现分别简述如下:
Hybrid rice is the advantage of using the first generation of hybrids. The second generation of hybrids will appear serious separation, plant height, mature early or late. Therefore, hybrid rice, there must be a hybrid first-generation seeds. However, rice is a self-pollinating crop with small spikes.
