The Fourth Session of the Ninth National People’sCongress (NPC) has examined and passed one law, the amend-ment to the “law of the People’s Republic of China on Chi-nese-Foreign Equity Joint Ventures”. The amendment only hasless than one hundred Chinese characters, however, it is the le-gal promise China has made for the entry into the World TradeOrganisation (WTO). In view of the approval of the NPCdeputies for the amendment, we may say that it is the commonrequirement of the Chinese government and all circles to abideby the WTO rules and open the market.
