China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile carrier by users, plans to begin 4G wireless service in Hong Kong in April to win customers from rivals including Telstra and PCCW, according to Shanghai Daily report.
The company will offer more than one 4G handset when it rolls out the service on April 25, Sean Lee, CEO of China Mobile Hong Kong Co, said on April 19, without elaborating. Ten 4G phones will be available for customers this year, he said.
The 4G service lets users download games and videos on their phones at the fastest speeds available as operators compete in a city where the number of mobile users is twice the population.
