随着我国经济社会持续快速发展,机动车保有量继续保持高速增长态势,近5年年均增加1400万辆,截至今年3月底,汽车保有量首次超2亿辆。随着我国高速公路的迅猛发展,方便快捷的高速公路是人们自驾出行的优先选择,伴随着货运与客运2方面的共同推动,导致了高速公路车流量的成倍增长。高速公路收费站的通行能力往往不能很好的与高速公路的通行能力相匹配,在收费站处经常发生交通拥堵。在此情况下,大力发展智能交通系统成为真正缓解日益严重的交通问题的必经之路。车牌识别技术作为智能交通系统的一个重要方向已经应用于高速公路收费管理中,随着人工智能领域图像识别的技术的大发展,车牌识别技术作为图像识别的技术的应用必将在识别能力上有质的提升,在保证车牌识别效率和准确率的基础上,结合网络互联和数据共享,完全可以取代传统IC卡通行的模式,缩短车辆上下站时间,同时车牌识别系统本身是一个全数字化的智能系统,若能结合云平台开发进行无现金支付,在缓解收费站的通行压力上将起到非常有效的作用。
