An analysis by Info Tek, a Russian consulting firm, on June 10, 2015 shows that Russia’s base oil and lubricant production will stagnate to 2.1 million tons per year in the coming years because of the difficult economic conditions in Russia and Europe. Another major factor in this stagnation is weak demand, and the development of more sophisticated equipment and vehicles has led to the use of less engine oil. According to Info Tek statistics, in 2014, Russia’s total production volume of base oil and lubricants reached 2.1 million tons, down from 2.3 million tons in the previous year. In 2014, the total base oil and lubricants market in Russia consumed 1.6 million tons, imported 500,000 tons and exported 1 million tons.
