为讨论葡萄品种研究方法和编写葡萄专志等问题,在中央和北方有关单位的支持和赞助下,河北省农业科学院果树研究所暨河北省果树学会于1963年7月21日至27日在昌黎界合召开了葡萄品种研究学术座谈会。中央和北方有7省1市17个科学研究单位,农业院校和生产部门的32位代表出席了会议,北京农业大学园艺系主任沈雋教授被邀请主持这次座谈会。会议着重讨论了葡萄品种的研究方法以及观察记载的项目和标准。代表们就中国科学院植物研究所北京植物园提出的《关于统一葡萄品种研究方法和记载标准的初步意见》进行了深入的讨论,首先,大家一致认为葡萄品种研究的目的应是为生产与科学研究服务。为了使研究成果能更多、更快、更好地用于生产与科学研究,广大葡萄品种研究工作者普遍要求拟定出一套既精确、完善、简明而又切合实用的、统一的观察记载项目、标准与方法。在讨论中,许多同志认为,我国过去参考苏联标准而制定的研究方法,项目过于繁琐,不少项目不切实用,应予精简。代表们在北京植物园提出的128个项目的基础上,全部或基本删除了26项,32项作了较大变动,18项需待今后继续试验再行决定,共他项目则作了适当的补充,最后形成了新的《葡萄品种观察记载的项目、标准和方法》(草案)。

During the discussion, many comrades considered that the research methods and projects we formulated in the past with reference to the Soviet Union standards are too cumbersome and many projects are impractical and should be streamlined. On the basis of 128 projects proposed by the Beijing Botanic Garden, representatives deleted 26 items in total or basically, 32 items changed greatly, 18 items needed to be decided in the future, and some items were supplemented appropriately , Finally formed a new “items, standards and methods for the observation of grape varieties” (draft).
