坦克装甲车辆高速行驶在崎岖的道路上,虽然履带或车轮因地面不平而上下跳动,但车内的乘员却感受不到强烈的巅震,究其原因,是悬挂系统起的作用。悬挂系统是坦克装甲车辆行动装置的重要组成部分,是将坦克装甲车的车体和负重轮连接起来的所有零部件的总称,主要包括弹性元件、减振器、限制器、平衡肘等。确保行驶平稳、乘坐舒适、保持乘员的工作效能是悬挂系统的核心任务。具体说,其功能主要体现在以下两个方面。一是弹性支承车体,缓和行驶装置(履带和负重轮)在路面行驶时产生并传给车体的冲击与振动,改善车内乘员的工作环境,提高工作效能。因地面崎岖而引起的坦克装甲车的起伏振动,会严重影响车内乘员的观察、瞄准和射击。同时这种振动会使车内乘员很快感到疲劳、恶心、头晕,严重时会造成内脏器官的损伤,极大地削弱战斗力。悬挂系统的另一个功用是减轻振动对车辆各部件的损伤和破坏,增加可靠性,从而确保坦克装甲车辆在任何路面上都能充分发挥动力-传动装置的最大效能,并保证其能以最大车速行驶,使车辆具有良好的机动性。坦克在恶劣地形上的高速运动能力取决于悬挂系统,特别是悬挂系统为负重轮提供的垂直行程。它是评价坦克装甲车辆战场机动性重要的指标之一。
