Objective To investigate the relationship between low birth weight (LBW) incidence and physical development and disease in children and provide scientific data for reducing LBW rate and taking intervention measures. Methods The survey of 22 counties and cities in 10 cities and prefectures in 16 ethnic groups from 1989 to 2011 in Yunnan Province, field investigation and hospital delivery information of 14 county-level MCH hospitals and 3 provincial-level hospitals were conducted. Meta-analysis And Logistic stepwise regression analysis. Birth weight <2 500 g for the LBW group, birth weight ≥ 2500 g as the control group. Results Long-term effects of 1LBW on physical development: LBW affects the child’s future height and bust development. 2 low body weight rate, stunted rate LBW group higher than the control group. 3LBW children not only affect growth and development and susceptibility to anemia and other diseases. Conclusion LBW has a profound impact on the growth and development of children and the occurrence of diseases.
