In the 1960s and the 1970s, Western countries, such as Britain, France and the United States, basically completed the industrial revolution. They stepped up their expansion of Asian countries in order to expand raw materials markets and commodity sales markets. The Westernization Movement of the Qing Dynasty set off the Westernization Movement in which “teachers were able to improve their own capabilities and independence,” while Japan conducted the Meiji Restoration. The two countries have different modes of development on the road to economic modernization and have different effects on the modernization of the two countries.
