《巴拉圭消息》是美国当代女作家莉莉.塔克的获奖长篇小说,描写发生在19世纪关于巴拉圭的政治、战争、阴谋等历史事件和情感纠葛。本文拟从女权主义的角度,来解读小说中的女主人公埃拉.林奇的形象。这一形象的独特性在于埃拉.林奇一方面是一个文化的孤儿和无根的浮萍,另一方面又具有双性一体的气质、反抗男权专制和发掘自我的的勇气。揭示这一为评论界所忽视的女性人物形象,对于重新认识这部小说的美学价值具有重要的意义。
The Paraguayan News is an award-winning novel by the contemporary American author Lily Tucker, describing historical events and emotional disputes that took place in the 19th century about politics, wars and plots in Paraguay. This article intends to interpret the image of heroine Ella Lynch in the novel from the perspective of feminism. The uniqueness of this image is that Ella Lynch, on the one hand, is a cultural orphaned and duckweed without roots. On the other hand, he has the same temperament of bisexuality, the courage to resist patriarchal and self-discovery. It is of great significance to reveal the female figure that is ignored by the critics for re-understanding the aesthetic value of this novel.
