亚运村西南侧的北京国际会议中心,继1990年亚运会之后,再次成为世界瞩目的地方:第四次世界妇女大会主会场和联合国官员办公机构就设在这里。在首都北京召开第四次世界妇女大会,这是中国政府对联合国作出的承诺,也是建国以来国内承办的规格最高、规模最大的一次国际盛会,接待和服务工作引起人们的普遍关注。为此,笔者在“世妇会”开幕前夕,专程采访了为大会提供服务接待工作的国际会议中心会展接待部党支部。这是一个充满朝气的年轻集体,100多名员工平均年龄不足26岁,17名共产党员分布在各个关键岗位上。1990年他们曾圆满地完成了第11届亚运会的服务和接待任务。经过5年的磨练之后,这群年轻人更加成熟起来。他们负责国际会议中心地下1楼至地上8楼60多个大小会议厅和数十套高雅舒适、功能齐全的写字间的服务接待工作,已先后成功地接待了“七运会”、“远南”运动会、全国政协会以及 The Beijing International Convention Center on the southwest side of the Asian Games Village has once again become a world-spotlight following the 1990 Asian Games: the main venue for the Fourth World Conference on Women and the official offices of United Nations officials are located here.
