广州市园林科学研究所是为广州市园林绿化和花卉生产服务的专业研究所。她座落在美丽的白云山南麓,创建于1978年4月。十八年来,在广州市政府、市建委、市园林局一贯关怀和支持下,全所职工发扬艰苦奋斗的创业精神,克服了所址搬迁、缺少土地、科研设备少、生活条件差等重重困难,才把科研所建设成现在的规模。现在,全所共有职工108名,其中科技人员和干部43人,设有荫生植物、组织培养、花卉、花灌木、球根花卉、城市绿化等六个研究室和面积280亩的白云苗圃生产基地。今年,又在从化市北部山区创办了高山花卉基地。实验室、玻璃温室、薄膜大棚、冷库等科研设施逐步完善。广州市园林科学研究所肩负着为广州市园林绿化工作充当排头兵的重任,不断地为广州地区和省内外园林绿化提供新品种、新技术和新工艺。
