In May 2004, the overall price of international steel was still at a high level. The price trend of plate and long product split: the price of plate went up steadily and slightly: the price of long products fell due to the drop of scrap prices and the weaker demand in China. Under the central government’s macro-control policy, the prices of various varieties in the domestic steel market dropped drastically. On May 24, China Iron and Steel Association held a forum on stabilizing domestic steel market in Beijing.
