太极拳是依据《易经》阴阳之理、中医经络学、道家导引而综合创造出的一套中正安舒、轻灵圆活、松柔慢匀、开合有序、刚柔相济的拳术,是中华民族文化的瑰宝和中国传统武术的奇葩。太极拳起源于焦作温县陈家沟。2006年焦作市被国家正式命名为“太极圣地”。焦作师专作为焦作地区的一所高等学校,以服务地方经济社会发展为办学宗旨,突出地域文化,彰显办学特色,把研究、传承太极文化作为学校义不容辞的责任和义务。

Jiaozuo City in 2006 was officially named as “Taiji Holy Land.” As a higher education institution in Jiaozuo, Jiaozuo Teachers College serves the purpose of running local economy and society, emphasizes regional culture, demonstrates characteristics of running a school, and studies and inherits Tai Chi culture as its unshirkable responsibility and obligation.
