Objective: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture combined with conventional western medicine on the awakening of patients with coma caused by traumatic brain injury. Methods: Thirty-two patients with coma of craniocerebral trauma were randomly divided into acupuncture group (n = 16) and western medicine group (n = 16). The acupuncture- Groups were given routine Western medicine treatment, respectively, after the treatment of the 7th and 30th Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and wake-up rate observed. Results: After the seventh acupuncture treatment, GCS score (6.88 ± 1.63) in the acupuncture group was significantly higher than that in the western medicine group (5.25 ± 1.65) (P <0.05). After the seventh acupuncture treatment, Awakening rate was 25.0%, Western medicine group was 0, the 30th treatment acupuncture group waking up rate was 81.3%, western medicine group was 43.8%, acupuncture group is superior to western medicine group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05 ). Conclusion: Electroacupuncture stimulation of Neiguan and Qu Ze combined with Western medicine treatment of patients with coma caused by traumatic brain injury have a good wake-up effect, superior to Western medicine alone.
