A 14-year follow-up study in the United States showed that women who ate fish ≥5 times a week had a 50% reduction in the risk of ischemic stroke. Some prospective studies have shown that fish intake is inversely related to the risk of stroke; but no one has ever investigated the association between the intake of fish and ω 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and the risk of developing specific stroke subtypes relationship.
