竹笋虫对竹笋的为害是毁灭性的,就是丈高大笋,只要一条小虫侵入,即可使竹笋枯死。而其虫口密度又可为笋数的10倍以上。安徽省金寨县农科所和良种繁育场,遵照毛主席关于开展三大革命运动的伟大教导,以35亩淡(元)竹林为主要基地,开展了防治竹笋虫的科学实验工作。经过20年的反复实践,初步取得了成果,据1972年大面积检验,新笋被害率降低到12%(对照区为83%),新笋成竹数提高四倍,亩产达到2000斤以上。现将他们的防治方法简介于下:
