During cell growth and differentiation. Variant splicing is part of many gene expression processes. As a multi-functional adhesion molecule, CD44 is a transgene-encoding glycoprotein encoded by a single gene. Ten mutant exons can be spliced selectively to produce CD44s and CD44v. CD44v is mainly expressed on the surface of metastatic tumor cells. The expression of different CD44v molecules can be seen in many malignant tumors. This article mainly reviews the correlation between CD44 molecules and the invasion and metastasis of gastrointestinal tumors.
