电视纪录片以它独特的纪实手法阐释人类历史,反映现实生活,预示未来的发展趋势,对推动人类社会的进程起到了不可忽略的作用。从1922年美国导演弗莱厄蒂拍摄的《北方的纳努克》至今,纪录片已有70年的历史。电视纪录片在我国的兴起也有几十年的历史,尤其是80年代以来,我国电视界推出的一系列大型纪录片如《丝绸之路》、《话说长江》、《话说运河》《让历史告诉未来》、《望长城》等更是显出纪录片的生命力和繁荣的创作景象;同时也预告:纪录片在我国有广阔的发展前景。因此,把握纪录片的创作特点及规律,对纪录片创作者来说无疑具有很强的现实意义。
