掀起波澜的东亚经济区去年12月中旬马来西亚总理马哈蒂尔提出“东亚经济区设想”后,引起了很大反响。当时正值在布鲁塞尔举行的乌拉圭回合未能就最后协议达成一致意见,同时又正在酝酿欧共体1992年底统一问题以及北美自由贸易区设想等,似乎地区主义潮流在抬头。现在东亚地区象似也要选择“集团经济”的道路,于是引起了人们的担心和警惕。但是,马来西亚政府后来的解释则反复强调,东亚经济区设想并不是要实现集团化,至多不过是要坚持多边的自由贸易体制,东亚各国要结成一体来与欧美的贸易保护主义进行对
In the middle of December last year, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir raised the issue of the “East Asian Economic Zone Vision” after a wave of turmoil in East Asia. It aroused great repercussions. At a time when the Uruguay Round in Brussels was unable to reach an agreement on the final agreement and the European Union was considering the issue of reunification by the end of 1992 and the North American Free Trade Area, it seems that the trend toward regionalism is on the rise.
