医疗单位是治病救人的场所,和其他行业一样也具有一定的风险性,有时也可因种种原因发生医疗事故。根据国务院1987年发布的《医疗事故处理办法》规定,发生医疗事故的医疗单位应根据事故等级给予病员或家属一次性经济补偿,并承担因医疗事故而增加的医疗费用。这一规定无论对于保障病人及其家属的合法权益,还是增强医疗单位防范医疗事故的责任感来说都是十分必要和正确的。
Medical units are places where people can save their own lives and have the same risks as other industries. Sometimes medical accidents can happen due to various reasons. According to the “Measures for Handling Medical Accidents” promulgated by the State Council in 1987, a medical unit that incurs a medical accident should be given a one-time financial compensation to the sick or relative according to the level of the accident and should assume the medical expenses increased as a result of the medical accident. This provision is necessary and correct for safeguarding the lawful rights and interests of patients and their families and for enhancing medical units’ responsibility to guard against medical accidents.
