In this review, we discuss the progress of techniques for the sampling, identification, isolation and enrichment of the trophoblast cells shedding from the cervix and its value in prenatal diagnosis and explore the feasibility of recovering trophoblasts from the cervix as a non-invasive prenatal detection sample.
