中共中央政治局常委、国务院总理朱镕基10月28日在国家统计局考察时指出,统计工作非常重要,党中央、国务院一贯重视和支持统计工作。统计部门要以“三个代表”重要思想为指导,大力推进统计改革和建设,建立科学、可靠、高效的现代统计体系,不断提高统计数据的真实性和准确性,不出假数,努力把统计工作提高到一个新水平。中共中央政治局委员、国务院副总理温家宝一同参加了考察。上午10时许,朱镕基一行来到国家统计局,先后考察了核算司国内生产总值（GDP）办公室和计算机中心,观看了统计工作信息化汇报演示,听取了有关负责人的情况介绍。随后,与国家统计局机关副司级以上干部和直属事业单位主要负责人进行了座谈。

At 10 o’clock in the morning, Zhu Rongji and his entourage came to the National Bureau of Statistics of China and successively inspected the Office of GDP and Computer Center of the Accounting Division, watched the demonstration report of the informatization of statistical work and listened to the introduction of the responsible persons. Subsequently, they held informal discussions with officials in charge of cadres at the deputy department level and above directly under the State Statistics Bureau.
