After more than 20 years of hard work, the Institute of Genetics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has bred a new type of silage multi-stalk and multi-spike corn-Jingdo-1 for the first time in China. It can replace ordinary single-stalk maize varieties with low yield and quality, can greatly increase the output of silage maize, provide abundant high-quality silage for the development of the cattle breeding industry, and provide more milk and beef for our people. In mid-August 1985, the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fishery and the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly held the trial of the extension of the trial of planting seeds of “Jingdu 1” in Chengde, Hebei Province, and decided to promote it in a large area in the “Three Norths”. Jingdo 1 maize is a single cross variety (Fengbai 29BGB).
