阿克苏地区地处新疆维吾尔自治区中部,天山山脉中段南麓、塔里木盆地北缘,面积13.25万平方公里,辖八县一市,人口226万,由36个民族组成,其中维吾尔族和汉族分别占73%和26%。全地区农牧业发达,素有“塞外江南”、“鱼米之乡”的美誉。近年来,我们坚持以科学发展观统领地区经济社会发展全局,不断推进体制机制创新,民族地区经济社会发展取得了新的成绩。2006年,全地区生产总值达317.35亿元,比上年增长23.09%;地方财政收入20.72亿元,增长42.38%;城镇居民人均可支配收入7890元,增长8%;农牧民人均纯收入达3385元。
